Ghaziabad: A man who murdered his wife, hired an accomplice to chop the body into three pieces, placed them in two bags and dumped them in a drain has been arrested on his minor son’s complaint in this Uttar Pradesh district, police said Wednesday.
“We have arrested the killer husband and attempts are being made to arrest the co-accused and to recover the remaining parts of the victim’s body,” said Superintendent of Police (City) A.K. Vijaita.
Riyaz Ahmad, 48, a father of four, confessed to his crime during interrogation Wednesday, police said.
He murdered his wife Ashima Khatun, 45, Sunday as he suspected her of having poisoned his mother eight years ago, police said.
After his confession, police recovered a bag containing some parts of his wife’s body from a drain near Dasna jail.
He revealed that he paid Rs.4,000 to a man identified as Mota, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, for chopping her body into pieces.
Police started investigations into the murder after Ahmad’s son, Airar, 9, informed them Sunday that his father had killed his mother.
On receiving his complaint, police dug up the court yard but failed to recover the dead body.
Simultaneously, police detained and questioned Ahmad, who Wednesday broke down before police and confessed that he had his wife’s body cut into three pieces, dumped them in two bags and threw them into a drain.
