New Delhi : The Municipal Corporation of Delhi Friday signed an agreement with leading IT company Tech Mahindra to facilitate the civic body’s paperless administration and enable its switch to e-governance.
“MCD’s e-governance project implementation commenced today (Friday) with the signing of the agreement between MCD and Tech Mahindra. With this, MCD’s initiative towards paperless administration across all its 40 departments is close to fruition,” MCD spokesperson Deep Mathur said in a statement.
The agreemenent was signed by MCD’s Additional Commissioner R.K. Shrivastav and Tech Mahindra’s senior vice president Prem Chand.
The civic agancy had engaged Wipro Consulting Services as a consultant for its e-governance initiative and now Tech Mahindra as the implementation partner.
“Tech Mahindra role will be development of new and integration of all existing software and hardware for seamless information flow and providing citizen services online. It would also manage the Citizen Service Bureaus across Delhi,” Mathur said.
The e-governance project aims at provinding a better understanding of MCD processes, transparency of operations, increased accountability, automatic escalations and alerts to track faulting department and officials, online filing of applications and tracking their progress, getting online approvals and getting status updates on MCD projects and services.
“MCD has already identified nodal officers across 40 departments to support implementation. It has also setup monitoring and implementation committees to monitor the project regularly,” Mathur added.
