Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government has targeted to construct 45,898 houses under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) but it is yet to complete a house under the project in the past five years, a minister said Monday.
A total of 4,898 houses were to be built in Chhattisgarh under the JNNURM that was launched in December 2005 by the Indian government but not a single house has been completed, Urban Administration Minister Rajesh Munat told the state assembly.
In a written reply to Congress member Kuldeep Singh Juneja, Munat said that 8,918 houses were under construction in the state under the JNNURM, a housing scheme for the urban poor.
