“With the upcoming Commonwealth Games in mind, the Delhi Metro has restored and handed over most of the arterial roads of the city which it had taken over for the second phase of Metro construction,” a Delhi Metro spokesperson said.

Over 30 km of roads have been handed back to the Delhi government administration and civic agencies. The remaining roads of around 15 km length under Delhi Metro occupancy will also be restored by next month, the official said.

Street-scaping work has begun on the roads, which is being handled by the Public Works Department (PWD), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
