Mumbai : The Maharashtra government Thursday transferred Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief K.P. Raghuvanshi as the new state additional director general of police (law and order), an official said.
Raghuvanshi’s post as ATS chief will be taken over by Mumbai Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Rakesh Maria at the ATS headquarters.
Similarly, Maria’s post as the head of Crime Branch will be taken over by Himanshu Roy, who is at present the joint commissioner of police (law and order), the official said.
Another senior officer, Rajneesh Seth will take over as the new joint commissioner of police (law and order) for Mumbai.
The transfer orders for these officials were issued Thursday afternoon, the official said.
Raghuvanshi’s expected transfer came in the wake of his utterances last fortnight following the arrest of two terror suspects in Mumbai who were planning to blow up an ONGC tank, a mall and a cloth wholesale market.
The central government had expressed displeasure over what it felt “leakage of sensitive information” pertaining to the two terror suspects by Raghuvanshi.
Raghuvanshi – who was earlier with the Central Bureau of Investigation – had been spearheading the investigations into the Feb 13 Pune terror blast, but so far the probe has revealed nothing, nor has it led to arrests of the key figures in it.
