Jharia: All human beings are brothers and sisters unto each other and education without the sense of humanity is useless. These views were expressed by speakers at a one-day conference on Paigham-e-Insaniyat (Message to Humanity) and turban-tying ceremony organized by Madrasa Mohammadia, Upper Kulhi, Jharia in Dhanbad at Balu Banker Ground on 24 April 2010.
Speaking on this occasion, chief guest and director of Markazul Maarif, Delhi, Mohammad Umar Gautam said that the purpose of man’s creation was obedience to his Creator and that Allah had sealed the series of prophethood with Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and called him mercy to the world.
Mr Guatam said that Islam stood for submission and a Muslim was one who submitted and surrendered himself to his Creator all day and night throughout his life. After creation God did not leave human beings directionless and purposeless, he said adding that the purpose of sending prophets to human beings was to provide them right direction and guidance.
He said that Quran was a book to be read, understood and its message to be conveyed to others and that Islam was as much practical as it was theoretical.
He also spoke about his acceptance of Islam and said that nobody had asked him to embrace Islam. I was in search of truth and I found it in the Quran which I studied for one year before embracing Islam, he said.
While talking to media persons, Mr Gautam said that humanity was necessary along with education and that man was incomplete without humanity. Just earning money does not make one a good human being, he said. He said that it was wrong to link Muslims with terrorism and that anybody could be a terrorist. Islam creates idealists and not terrorists.
In answer to a question asked by media persons, Delhi-based journalist Manzar Imam said that Islam never propagated unnecessary taking of innocent lives – be it human beings or any other creature. He quoted a verse from the Quran (5:32) that says that killing of one person is equal to killing the entire humanity and that saving the life of one person is like saving the entire humanity.
While shedding light on the necessity of madrasas, Maulana Sabir, rector of Madrasa Mohammadia regretted that those Muslims did not value their faith who were born in Muslim homes.
Maulana Khursheed Akram Rahmani, khateeb, Jama Masjid Asansol (West Bengal) stressed the need for understanding the Quran. There were great applauses for Qari Tabish Raihan of Maunath Bhanjan who mesmerized the audience with his beautiful recitation of Naat from time to time throughout the four-hour long conference.
Maulana Mohammad Talha Mazahiri, khateeb of Jama Masjid Junglepur coordinated the programme that was attended by ulama, scholars, members of different religious communities and a large number of people from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand.
