Replying to a query in the Lok Sabha, Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh said the foreigners, however, voluntarily vacated the park area after they were informed that entering a national park is prohibited under the law of the country.

“Intensive patrolling of vulnerable areas in the park was conducted to stop occurrence of such incidents during the Maha Kumbh at Haridwar. The foreigners were also allotted 20,000 square foot camping ground for setting up their own tents,” he said.

Camping in the national park is prohibited under violation of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
