Srinagar : The army Monday busted a militant hideout in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district in an ongoing operation against the guerrillas, an official said.
A defence spokesperson told IANS that troops had killed 11 separatist guerrillas in Operation Thunder Strike launched 12 days ago.
“Operation Thunder Strike was launched by the army on May 5 in the forests of north Kashmir and as part of this operation the troops early today (Monday)busted a hideout and recovered huge quantity of arms and ammunition,” defence spokesperson Lt. Col. J.S.Brar said.
“Our troops recovered 10-AK-47 rifles, one RPG gun, three 303 rifles, over 100 grenades, mines and improvised explosive device (IED) stores,” he said.
Brar added that the operation in the area continued.
