New Delhi : A 30-year-old wife of an army colonel driving in an inebriated state rammed her Honda City car into an autorickshaw, killing two people and injuring two others in the Delhi Cantonment area, police said Sunday.
Nivedita Singh, wife of Colonel Rahul Singh, was arrested but will be out on bail soon, they said.
“She is charged with causing death due to rash and negligent driving which is a bailable offence,” a police officer told IANS.
“The incident happened at around 11.30 p.m. Saturday. The woman, Nivedita Singh, who was in an intoxicated state, was driving a Honda City car. She rammed into an auto, killing the driver and one of the three passengers,” he said.
The two killed in the accident at Gopinath Bazar have been identified as auto driver Raj Kumar, resident of Uttam Nagar, and Ved Prakash, a resident of Palam.
“We have done their post mortem, the report is awaited. Their families have taken the bodies,” he said.
The injured — Jeet Singh, a resident of Khanpur and Megh Singh of Alwar in Rajasthan — have been admitted to a hospital.
