AMU to hold national consultation on upcoming special centres

Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University will hold a National Consultation on vision and mission for AMU special centres on May 30, 2010 at India International Centre, New Delhi. The invitees include Muslim vice-chancellors from across the country and prominent alumni from home and abroad.

AMU Vice Chancellor Professor P. K. Abdul Azis said that more than hundred delegates from all parts of India and abroad will participate in the consultation.



Prominent among them are: Justice A. M. Ahmadi, former Chief Justice of India, Prof. A. R. Kidwai, former Governor of Haryana and Bihar, Shri E. Ahmad, Minister of State for Railways, Mr. M. A. Baby, Minister of Higher Education, Government of Kerala, Mr. Hari Narayan Singh, Minister of Education, Bihar, Members of Parliament Mr. Badruddin Ajmal, Shri Moinul Hasan, Shri Rashid Alvi, Maulana Asrarul Haque Qasmi, Prof. S. W. Akhtar, Vice Chancellor, Integral University, Lucknow, Dr. S. Shamsul Alam, Vice Chancellor, Aliah University, Kolkata, Dr. Syed Akheel Ahmad, former Vice Chancellor, Yenepoya University, Prof. A. M. Pathan, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Karnataka, Prof. Anwar Jahan Zuberi, Vice Chancellor, University of Calicut, Prof. Furquan Qamar, Vice Chancellor, Central University Dharamshala, Prof. Aaluddin Ahmad, foirmer Vice Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard, Mr. Mohd. Shafi Qureshi, Chairman, National Minority Commission and Member AMU Court, Mr. Kamal Farooqui, former Chairman, Delhi Minorities’ Commission, Mr. S. M. A. Kazmi, Chairman, UP Commission for Minorities, Prof. K. N. Panikkar, Vice Chairman, Kerala State Higher Education Council, Maulana Wali Rahmani, Member AMU Court, Mr. Khwaja Mohd. Shahid, Member, AMU Court and Ms. Saiyeda Saiyyidain, Member, Planning Commission.

“Several AMU alumni from USA, Saudi Arabia and other countries are also expected to attend the one-day national consultation for AMU special centres,” said Dr Rahat Abrar, Public Relations Officer, AMU.
M. A. A. Fatmi, former Minister of State, MHRD, Hasan Kamal, USA, Safdar H. Khan have also been invited for deliberations including presentation of Concept Plan, Vision and Mission for the Special Centres, Architectural Design and generation of fund and project implementation, Dr Abrar added.
