“Adil Vali Mohammad, 38, was arrested Saturday when 31 passports, apart from his own, were confiscated from his possession at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport,” said a police official.

Mohammad, a computer graduate, hails from a lower-middle class family from Mumbai, the police official said.

“Investigations revealed participation of a greater network that has recently trafficked 30 Indians, 29 from Gujarat and two from Punjab, through a tout at Guatemala. The route they have adopted is completely new,” the police official said.

The touts would charge Rs.20-30 lakh from each illegal immigrant.

After bringing them to Delhi from various places in India, a man from the gang would prepare their fake travel documents before transporting them .

Mohammad has been sent to judicial custody.
