Islamabad : A parliamentary committee will probe illegal allotment of plots in Islamabad to seven people by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, a media report said.
The National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee is all set to probe the allotment of plots in violation of rules in Islamabad to seven influential people by Gilani in early 2009.
The probe begins after receiving the complete lists of beneficiaries of plots in the federal capital, The News International reported Tuesday.
An inquiry committee set up by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to probe these allotments by Gilani had declared these allotments were illegal.
Gilani allotted the plots to his associates through the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation.
The media report said that Gilani allotted a plot to one of his close friends in January 2009 and when the scam came to light in February 2009, three more influential persons were allotted plots to cover up the first allotment.
Later, three more people were allotted plots in Sector G-14 of Islamabad.
Sources said that the parliamentary committee will probe the illegal allotments and will recommend to the government to cancel these.
