Chandigarh : A sports centre in Haryana will be the country’s first to provide training for all aero sports disciplines like para-jumping, gliding and power flying, an official said Sunday.
The Rajiv Gandhi National Aero Sports Centre was inaugurated this year at Mohindergarh district.
“This centre is one of the most ultra-modern centres in India. It would be the country’s first centre to impart training to trainers in all disciplines of aero sports,” said Sanjay Thapar, director general of Aero Club of India.
“Besides, training will also be provided to youths from all over the country,” he added.
Set up at Bachhod village, near Ateli town of Mohindergarh, the centre was inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda Jan 31.
“Training courses would be started as soon as the infrastructure is in place. Land acquisition is in progress. Nine acres of land have been acquired, and 42 acres have been given by the village panchayat to increase the length of the runway,” said Thapar.
Haryana government will provide basic infrastructure, whereas planes and other equipment would be provided by Aero Club of India, he added.
Thapar said training for sports like para-jumping, parasailing, gliding, hot air ballooning, power flying, sky diving, aero modelling and micro light flying would be provided. Other sports too would also be included later.
