Islamabad : The ‘army worm’ pest is rapidly spreading through the cotton crop in a Pakistan district hitting cotton production, a media report said.
The cotton crop is under the attack of the army worm, locally known as Lashkiri Keero, in Dadu district in Sindh.
Dawn reported that cotton production has been badly hit due to the pest attack.
Ali Nawaz Kalhoro, an agriculture official, said that the crop came under attack some 30 days ago and the pest is spreading fast and attacking the leaves of plants.
He said cotton was sown on 3,000 acres and the spread of disease at the fag end of the season has inflicted a huge loss to farmers.
Anwar Kalhoro, a farmer, said he has lost his cotton crop on 10 acres.
