Those others include former adviser to the Chandigarh administrator (chief secretary rank) Lalit Sharma and Haryana cadre civil servant Vivek Atray, CBI sources said.

Officials of private builder Unitech Builders have also been booked by the CBI, sources said.

All the accused have been booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. They have been accused of violation of norms, procedural irregularities and misuse of official position.

The CBI was investigating the matter for nearly five months and a criminal case has now been registered against the officers.

All three officers were serving in the Chandigarh administration here when the controversial allotment took place.

Krishna Mohan, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, was then (in 2007-08) serving as home secretary in the Chandigarh administration.

Atray was then director-tourism and is presently on leave from the Haryana government and is working with a multi-national company PricewaterhouseCoopers here.

Lalit Sharma, a senior IAS officer who has now retired, was the senior most bureaucrat in Chandigarh administration at that time.

CBI sources here said that none of the officers have so far been arrested. They added that further investigation would take place before any more action is taken against these officers.

The CBI has, however, let off former Chandigarh finance secretary and serving senior Punjab-cadre IAS officer S.K. Sandhu in this case.

The Chandigarh administration had scrapped the allotment of the project May this year after the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) recommended investigation into the case by the CBI.

The CBI is still investigating allotment of two other mega projects – the Film City project and PrideAsia housing project, allotted during the same time by the administration.
