New Delhi: The complicated issue of circle rates of properties – the minimum selling price of a plot – in the capital will come up for discussion again in the Delhi cabinet Tuesday, an official said Monday.
The matter was put up for discussion in the meeting of the cabinet Monday, but due to differences and lack of time, it was decided that the issue will be sorted out Tuesday, the official said.
On Aug 30, the Delhi government had decided to seek public opinion on the issue of revised circle rates after discussing a committee report. The report had decided to raise the circle rates of some colonies.
The cabinet meeting had decided to defer a decision that day on the circle rates on the sale and purchase of properties, noting that people can send their views on the matter within six weeks, following which a final decision will be taken.
The proposal regarding circle rates in the capital were accepted by the Delhi cabinet June 14. However, due to differences among officials and minister Raj Kumar Chauhan, the discussion on the matter still continues. As per the proposal accepted by the cabinet June 14, the circle rates will vary from Rs.9,000 to Rs.1.25 lakh per sq metre.
There are some 2,480 colonies in the capital which come under circle rates.
