Islamabad : NATO helicopters have again violated Pakistan’s airspace, an official said Wednesday. The intrusion comes close on the heels of an attack on a Pakistan security post by coalition force choppers that left three troopers dead.
The NATO helicopters entered Pakistan’s airspace near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Chaman Tuesday morning.
“Two NATO helicopters crossed 200 yards into our territory and went back after a moment,” Dawn quoted an official as saying.
He said coalition force officials deployed in Afghanistan were informed about the incident and a protest was lodged against the violation.
On Sep 30, three Pakistani troopers were killed when NATO helicopters entered the country’s airspace and fired at a military outpost along the Afghan border in Kurram Agency.
Pakistan demanded an apology from NATO over the aerial attack and Islamabad blocked a key supply route to Afghanistan. The route has since been opened.
