Held under the aegis of World Federation of the Associations of Pediatric Surgeons (WFAPS), the congress will see world’s best pediatric surgeons sharing their experiences with the participants.

A post-congress live operative session at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will include case presentations and live operations.

“Children surgery is a highly delicate branch and requires the specialised environment managed with the highly skilled, dedicated and trained manpower to treat babies,” said Prem Puri, president WPFAPS.

The congress is held every three years and it is for the first time India is hosting it.

“Largest number of children are in Asia and most of them suffer from birth defects. The thrust is to improve the health of children by improving health care,” said D.K. Gupta, head of paediatric surgery, AIIMS.
