Tokyo: India and Japan Monday decided to simplify visa procedures between them and signed a memorandum to that effect.
The memorandum covers the gamut – including measures related to business visas, employment visas, tourist visas, student visas as well as temporary visitor visas.
The measures will be implemented from a date that would be mutually decided by both sides through diplomatic channels.
Welcoming the move, the joint statement by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan said “they hoped that the signing of the Memorandum on Simplifying Visa Procedures will further facilitate the movement of people between India and Japan”.
