Mumbai: The Mumbai police Thursday said they will arrest the woman who killed her 45-day-old girl, once her premature twin son is stable and discharged from the hospital.
“We will arrest Deepika Parmar, 26, after her twin boy is stable and discharged from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital. It is important that the boy is taken care of by his mother,” police inspector Vikram Patil said.
Parmar Tuesday threw her infant girl from the hospital window and then raised an alarm that she was stolen. But the CCTV footage Wednesday showed Parmar looking around to see if she was alone and then removing the glass slabs of the window.
“She then threw the girl out and returned to raise an alarm pretending that the baby had been stolen,” Patil said.
Parmar was booked under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code Wednesday.
Her family members said she was not in the right mental condition as she had lost two other children some years ago.
However, Patil said: “We have not been able to find any medical history of her abnormal behaviour on earlier occasions. I don’t think she is mentally unfit.”
“A mental patient will not be able to work all this out step by step,” he added.
