Saleem Marwat, a police officer in Lower Dir District, said it was a suicide blast. But he failed to give any further details about the suicide bomber.

The dead included leader of pro-government militia Aman Laskar.

Rescue teams and local people shifted the all injured persons to Kolair and Timar Girah hospital.

Three wounded were in critical situation, The Nation daily reported.

Law enforcement agencies cordoned off the blast site and started the search for extremists in the area.

Monday’s blast in Lower Dir is the second of its kind that occurred in Pakistan within the last 24 hours.

On Sunday afternoon, a crowded shrine in Pakistan’s city of Dera Ghazi Khan was attacked by three serial blasts, at least one of which has been confirmed to be a suicide blast.

The terrorist attack at the shrine killed 43 people and injured over 100 others. Local media have earlier reported that the Pakistani police have arrested some suspected terrorists who were heading to Lahore to conduct terrorist activities there.
