Mumbai : Following India’s cricket World Cup victory, senior Congress MP from north Mumbai Sanjay Nirupam Monday wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh requesting him to honour Team India in parliament.
“This humongous achievement deserves a befitting acknowledgement by the government of India and both houses of parliament,” Nirupam said in his letter.
“The Indian cricket team should be accorded an official felicitation in the central hall of parliament in the presence of Members of Parliament and important dignitaries from various spheres of life,” he added.
Expressing his happiness, Nirupam said the Indian cricket team has rewritten history with its fantastic performance in the tournament.
