Gujarat government counsel P.K.Jani conveyed the information to the Gujarat High Court while apprising it of the progress made on implementing its oral observations and recommendations in relation to the law.

The new scheme includes a lump sum financial aid to juvenile offenders when they turn major.

The government would provide a scholarship of Rs.16,000 for vocational training.

Counsel said that the government had signed a memorandum of understanding with certain companies to give jobs to such children after the training.

The bench of Chief Justice S.J. Mukhopadhaya and Justice J.B. Pardiwala said the state should initiate steps for getting such children married when they turn major.

The court was hearing a public interest litigation over the issue of care and protection of juveniles under the Juvenile Justice Act and juveniles in conflict with law.
