“The Lucknow-bound flight entered a taxiway that was not in operation,” airport director Atul Dixit told reporters.

Asked how the fight entered the wrong taxiway, Dixit said: “It’s a matter of enquiry. However, I can say that we had notified that the taxiway was not in operation.”

According to airport officials, after the pilot realised his mistake, he stopped the aircraft and the passengers were disembarked.

No official statement was released by Kingfisher Airlines about the incident.
