Former FICCI official is Trinamool nominee for Bengal polls

Kolkata : former FICCI secretary general Amit Mitra Wednesday filed his nomination as Trinamool Congress candidate for the West Bengal assembly polls.

Mitra, an economist, joined the poll fray from Khardah constituency in North 24-Parganas district. He will be up against state Finance Minister Asim Dasgupta, also a noted economist.

Bengali actress Debashree Roy, who portrayed Satyabati in the teleserial “Mahabharat”, filed her nomination from Raidighi seat in North 24-Parganas.

She is contesting on a Trinamool ticket against state Sports and Sunderbans Affairs Minister Kanti Ganguly of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M).

Two other Trinamool candidates, theatre personality Bratya Basu and city mayor Shovan Chatterjee filed nominations from Dum Dum in North 24-Parganas and Behala in South 24-Parganas districts respectively.
