No agreement after meeting Hazare supporters: Sibal

New Delhi : The Indian government and civil society leaders Thursday failed to reach an agreement on the procedure for setting up a joint committee to formulate an anti-graft Lokpal Bill, union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal said.

The civil society leaders want the joint drafting committee to be legally notified and be chaired by veteran Gandhian Anna Hazare, whose fast-unto-death to demand a more effective Lokpal Bill entered its third day Thursday.

“On these two issues, there is no agreement so far. So we need more time and we will be meeting tomorrow (Friday) to evolve a procedure through which we can move forward,” Sibal told reporters after the second round of meeting with activists Swami Agnivesh and Arvind Kejriwal.
