New Delhi : India’s young are the power of the nation, reformer Anna Hazare said Saturday after calling off his 97-hour fast for a more powerful Lokpal (ombudsman) bill to fight corruption in public life.
Saluting the youth of the country for supporting the mass movement against corruption, Hazare said: “The support of the youth is a symbol of hope. The fact that youth of the whole nation stood with us is a ray of hope.”
“Youth power is the power of the nations,” he said.
Anna Hazare, who sat on fast Tuesday morning, broke his fast Saturday after the government said it would introduce the bill in the monsoon session of parliament. The government has agreed to include five civil society members in the committee to draft the anti-graft Lokpal bill.
