New Delhi : A nephew of a retired Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) official has been arrested for his murder in west Delhi last month, police said Monday. His three associates have also been held.
Kuldeep Chopra, 23, nephew of Subhash Chopra who was killed March 11 in Prashant Vihar, was arrested along with three others Sunday in north Delhi, police said.
Chopra died due to suffocation after three intruders gagged him and escaped with cash.
“Kuldeep, Sachin, 25, Jitender, 23, and Satpal, 30, were arrested after a police team laid a trap on the basis of a tip-off at Mukarba Chowk in north Delhi,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Ashok Chand.
“The murder was meticulously planned as Kuldeep didn’t involve himself in the crime which was carried out by his associates,” said Chand.
Kuldeep was working with his uncle in his liasoning work but felt underpaid. Kuldeep had mortgaged his father’s house with his uncle for Rs.2 lakh, police said.
“He wanted to rob his uncle to get back the papers of the house,” said Chand.
“He planned the robbery with his friend Sachin who roped in Jitender and Satpal,” he added.
