Srinagar: Maintaining that the government has miserably failed on all fronts especially to deal with the growing human rights violations, MLA Langate Er Abdul Rasheed has said the poor governance has compelled him to stay away from the voting for the six Legislative Council seats.
“The government has failed on all fronts especially rights abuses. People had pinned overwhelming hopes from the government led by young chief minister but his dispensation has dejected them,” MLA lamented.
He said the protection of life and property of the citizens is the basic duty of any government but the National Conference-Congress coalition government has pursued its own interests and largely ignored issues of public importance.
Commenting to Dogra Certificate controversy, independent MLA said that instead of focusing on intra-regional harmony between three regions of the state, some people in the government seem to be hell bent on creating mistrust among the people of different regions of the state.
“If Mr Taj Mohi-u Din is truthful in saying that the decision about Dogra Certificate was taken unilaterally by the revenue minister, then it reflects the lack of coordination in the government,” he said adding when he raised the issue in the assembly, the members of the ruling party laughed at it.
MLA viewed, “If the government would have exhibited seriousness on the issue in the house, then it would not have taken such an ugly turn,”
Rasheed said that all this misappropriation and chaos in the government has motivated him to stay away from the election process of the Legislative Council. “It is better to keep off from this mess than becoming a part of it at the cost of larger interest of the people and the democracy,” he said.(AIP)
