Meeting under the banner of India Against Corruption, the civil society members put up three demands – acceptance of their alternative Jan Lokpal Bill, videographing of committee proceedings and involvement of the general public in consultations.

Arvind Kejriwal, a Right to Information activist, said the entire proceedings of the committee should be caught on camera and public opinion should be sought through the government’s website.

“The government should also accept our alternative bill,” Kejriwal told reporters here.

The joint committee, comprising five union ministers and five civil society members, are to meet 11 a.m. Saturday for the first meeting to draft the Lokpal (ombudsman) Bill.
