Mubarak suffered two mild heart-attacks last week and his health is said to be “unstable”, the state news agency MENA reported Thursday quoting a medical source.

Eight days ago, prosecutors remanded Mubarak in custody for 15 days pending his investigation over charges of corruption and sanctioning the murder of protesters during the three-week uprising that led to his ousting Feb 11.

Mubarak’s sons Alaa and Gamal are also under investigation for corruption and profiteering and are being detained in Tora prison.

On Thursday, Mahmoud commissioned Egypt’s chief medical examiner to inspect the hospital at Tora prison, and decide if it is suitable for hosting the former president.

He also ordered him to check Mubarak’s health and and see if the prison hospital could provide all the facilities needed for his treatment, said Al-Masri al-Youm.

Mubarak is said to be depressed and to have lost a lot of weight since he resigned.
