The minister accuses Ray Dias of creating the fake account on the site and sending “emails which are obscene and lewd to other persons on Facebook, thereby defaming” his daughter Valenka.

The Facebook page, which has been “liked” by more than 80 people describes Valanka, as a “the youngest Goan youth politician ever!! A true goan asset!!”, before switching to slander and abuses.

Police believe that the accused, Dias, lives in the town of Swindon, in southwest Britain, which has a significant population of Goan immigrants.

“We have booked an offence under section 66(A)(c) 66 (D) of the Information technology act. We are trying to zero in on the accused,” a police spokesperson said.
