According to police, legislator Sanjay Yadav had a heated argument with Godda District Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC), Dileep Kumar Jha, over development of the district.

Both used abusive language and Yadav allegedly slapped Jha and punched him in the stomach.

“Yadav slapped me and punched me in my stomach,” Jha told reporters. He has filed a police complaint against the RJD legislator.

However, the RJD lawmaker has denied the allegation. “I have not slapped the DDC. He was using abusive language at the meeting,” Yadav said.

In Jharkhand, legislators beating up officials is not new. Legislators allege that officials are indulging in corrupt practices and seeking money for every work.

Yogendra Sao, a Congress legislator, was arrested ten days ago. He was charged with beating up a Block Development Officer in Hazaribagh district two months ago.
