The airlines had scheduled only these flights from here during the day.

“We flew three flights to Delhi – one via Hydrabad and another via Visakhapatnam – one to Mumbai via Bangalore and one to Kochi. Flights to Singapore and Colombo will also operate,” an Air India spokesperson told IANS.

“Flights for Saturday will be decided in the evening,” he added.

Air India normally operates around 30 flights out of Chennai.

The pilots of the Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA), formerly on the payroll of erstwhile Indian Airlines, struck work Tuesday midnight demanding parity in pay with their counterparts in Air India and other issues related to work conditions.

They have since also demanded that the airline reinstate the pilots who were sacked and suspended and want the union to be recognised again and its offices de-sealed.
