New Delhi : The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday moved a privilege motion against Sports Minister Ajay Maken in both houses, accusing him of misleading parliament.
The motion was moved in the Lok Sabha by senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha while in the Rajya Sabha, the motion was moved by party veteran S.S. Ahluwalia, informed sources said.
The main opposition party said the motion was moved as Maken has misled parliament by saying Suresh Kalmadi was made chief of the Commonwealth Games (CWG) organising committee during the time of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
The decision to move the privilege motion was taken in a meeting of the core group of the BJP Sunday. The party also decided to press the demand for resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.
Maken, in a statement to Lok Sabha last week, said the paper work for appointing Suresh Kalmadi as chief of CWG organising committee was done when the NDA was in power, a claim rebutted by the BJP.
