New Delhi: In order to develop and nurture sports talent in the schools of Delhi and NCR (Gurgaon, Noida, greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad), the First NCR Inter-School Sports Championship (NCR ISSC) is being organized by Equiwings Sports. The uniqueness and importance of this School Sports Championship lies in the fact, that this is the first of its kind in the sports history of schools across the national capital and the NCR.
The Championship, which has been accredited by the UP Olympic Association (UPOA), is planned to be an annual sports event. There are more than 3o different sporting competitions under several categories, which include athletics, archery, basketball, badminton, chess, cricket, football, volleyball, swimming, lawn tennis, table tennis, and others. The competitions will be held at different schools on weekends from 20th August till 10th September and concluding with the award nights for the winning teams and individuals, followed by gala dinner and musical programme at Worlds of Wonder amusement park, Noida.

More than 100 schools and about 10, 000 participants from across Delhi and NCR, are expected to be a part of this unprecedented sports championship. Special consideration has been made for those athletes who had represented the State or Country.
Mr. Anandeshwar Pandey, Secretary of the UPOA said, that there should be more such competitions across the country and emphasized the need for better sports facilities for the school students. The specialized talent promotion team of Equiwings Sports, will keenly observe and document the young sports talents and will be providing free consultation to the athletes, schools and parents.
Seeing the overwhelming response from the schools and participants, it is most likely that the number will cross the number of participating athletes in the recently concluded Delhi Commonwealth Games. Some of the major schools like, Mayoor School and Genesis Global School of Noida and Ingraham Institute of Ghaziabad have tied up as venue partners.
