Gandhinagar : Lawyer Yatin Oza, president of the Gujarat High Court Advocates’ Association, was mildly admonished Wednesday when he tried to raise an issue related to activist Anna Hazare’s arrest in Delhi a day earlier.
Chief Justice S.J. Mukhopadhaya told him not to bring politics into court. “Do not embarrass the court,” the chief justice told Oza, a former BJP legislator, when he sought to make a representation on lawyers abstaining from court proceedings for the day to protest Hazare’s arrest.
A division bench headed by the chief justice said: “The court will not permit any adjournment on this count and will dismiss cases where the lawyer does not remain present.”
The lawyer’s association earlier passed a resolution saying that its members would stay away from the proceedings to protest Hazare’s arrest.
