Khadiwale, Bawne rescue Maharashtra in Buchi Babu

Chennai : Courtesy centuries by Harshad Khadiwale (148, 231b, 13×4, 3×6) and Ankit Bawne (100, 162b, 6×4, 3×6), Maharashtra piled up 379 for nine in their quota of 90 overs against Mumbai in a semi-final of the All India Buchi Babu cricket tournament here Friday.

Meanwhile, not a ball was bowled in the other semi-final, between Kerala and Hyderabad, due to wet ground conditions following heavy rains overnight.

There were as many as five inspections before it was decided to abandon the day’s proceedings and in case of a no-result Sunday, then the winner will be decided by toss of coin.

Maharashtra did well to recover from 95 for three in the 25th over as Khadiwale and Bawne put on 206 for the fourth wicket in 48.5 overs, but their departure triggered a collapse as Mumbai bowlers hit back.

Left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh was the pick of the Mumbai bowlers with a haul of four for 124.
