Raipur : The monsoon session of the Chhattisgarh assembly beginning Monday is set to be stormy as the opposition Congress announced Sunday it will stall proceedings to highlight the alleged failure of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.
The 90-member state assembly will have just seven sittings Aug 29-Sep 9.
“The Congress will try to make the best use of the short session and try to move adjournment motions on key issues ranging from the killing of civilians in staged encounter by police to bribery charges against a minister by a private firm,” Congress sources told IANS.
Sensing the mood of the opposition, the BJP has called a meet of its party legislators Monday to chalk out a strategy to counter the Congress.
The BJP has 49 members in the assembly, the Congress has 39 and the Bahujan Samaj Party has two members.
