New Delhi : Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Tuesday said that the government cannot comment on the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report until parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) submits its recommendations.
On the second day of the assembly’s monsoon session, which witnessed uproar by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members over the CAG and V.K. Shunglu Committee reports on the Commonwealth Games, Dikshit said: “I have said several times that we cannot discuss the CAG report as it it is lying with the PAC, which is a constitutional body of parliament. We are bound to take action against anyone when the PAC points out.”
Launching a scathing attack on the BJP, Dikshit added that the principal opposition party in the assembly has been misguiding people by running a rumour mill as it is facing a lot of frustration due to consecutive defeats in the last three assembly and two Lok Sabha elections in Delhi.
“They are using ugly words and their allegations are far away from the truth. The allegations are even far from the reality and not based on the facts and truth,” she added.
Dikshit expressed surprise over the stand taken by Leader of Opposition V.K Malhotra, who has been the chairman of the PAC and its member for many years when he was an MP.
“The opposition is out to take a political mileage out of the reports and due to their mischievous allegations. Further, the leader of opposition has also been associated with the organising committee of the Games in capacity of its vice-chairman and is holding an officiating charge of chairmanship presently,” she added.
