New Delhi: A detailed project report has been finalised for the National Mission on Monsoon (NMM) to develop an advanced system for forecasting monsoon in the country, parliament was informed Thursday.
In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Earth Sciences Ashwani Kumar said the NMM has been asked to develop most representative and advanced dynamic model framework for India for forecasting monsoon rainfall.
“All necessary administrative and financial approvals are being sought to implement this multi-institutional mission during the current financial year,” he said.
Currently, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) uses statistical models for prediction of seasonal monsoon rainfall across the country.
