Moscow : Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has signed a law prohibiting policemen from joining, establishing or funding political parties, said a press secretary for Russia’s deputy interior minister Saturday.
The law aims to set equal protection of the rights of citizens with no regard to their political preferences.
“Under this law, a policeman can not be a party member, finance a party or comply with party’s rulings. A policeman must abide only by law,” press secretary Sergei Bulavin said.
The law also obliged policemen to publish data on their incomes and the incomes of their family members.
“Policemen will be fired for providing false information,” the law said.
