Chennai: Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) conducted demonstrations at Chennai and all state headquarters in Tamilnadu today, marking the 19th Anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid. Thousands including Men and women participated in the demonstrations held throughout the state. Speaking at the demonstrations in Chennai, Prof. MH Jawahirullah, MLA and President of TMMK said “Demolition of Babri Masjid on 6 December 1992 is a shame to the secular fabric of this nation and indeed a heinous crime on humanity by national and universal standards.
TMMK expressed its distress over certain Members of Parliament, later central ministers and Chief Ministers who were supposed to safeguard the Constitution being involved in this heinous crime. Though the Justice Liberhan Commission appointed to probe the demolition has submitted its report after 17 long years taking 48 extensions and has implicated 68 persons including former Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and former chief minister as culprits; this report too is facing precarious situation of premature death due to the inertia of the Congress led government at Centre.

They said that the Judgment delivered by the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court in the Babri Masjid title suit case shocked not only the Muslims but also all fair minded justice loving people of this country. They said it was very right from the part of Supreme Court to stay the Judgement of the Allahabad High Court terming it as strange.

They said that the Muslim community indeed has hopes over their appeal to the Supreme Court with the faith that it could deliver justice to them. TMMK said that the Muslim leadership has repeatedly asserted that they would abide by the laws of the land in spite of the Sangh Parivar statements that they are on their way to construct the temple by force if obstructed by the courts.
