Islamabad : Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said President Asif Ali Zardari’s health is improving as he is feeling comfortable and resting in a Dubai hospital as advised by doctors.
“He (Zardari) is improving”, APP quoted Gilani as telling a TV channel.
Gilani also said that the president talked to him over phone.
“The president talked to me on phone yesterday (Friday), when (opposition leades) Chaudhry Shujaat and Pervaiz Ilahi had come to meet me at the Prime Minister House”, Gilani said.
About speculation on Zardari’s health, Gilani said: “Anybody can fall sick and he (Zardari) is also an average human being.”
Gilani said he and Zardari’s family had insisted he go abroad for medical tests, check-up and treatment.
Gilani also cited some security reasons and recalled that when Zardari’s father Hakim Ali Zardari was admitted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad, there were some security threats.
The prime minister said he and the president’s son Bilawal Bhutto Zardari were present at the helipad to see off Zardari.
Zardari abruptly left Pakistan for Dubai on Dec 6 reportedly after suffering a stroke that caused bleeding in the brain and facial paralysis.
His sudden departure triggered speculation about his health. There were also rumours of a military coup, which the US scotched.
