The decision was mooted by Specialised Academies Committee chairman M.P.Pandove and was accepted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at its working committee meeting here Monday.

“The three academies will lessen the burden on the NCA. Each academy will cater to nine states and this will have a major effect on talent development,” a top BCCI official told IANS, on the condition of anonymity.

The BCCI is also planning to go on a massive talent hunt programme in the northeastern states.

“We will be hold open trials for players in the north east and the best would be trained in the three academies,” the official said.
