SIO meet asks youths to create their space in society

Mumbai: The Student Meet of Students Islamic Organisation of India’s (SIO) Mumbra zone, held at Dongre Compound here on Tuesday, asked Muslim youths and students to create their own space in the society. SIO leaders urged the youth community to keep from evils of the society. Several hundred students and local people attended the conference whose theme was “Apna Maqam Paida Kar”.

Mr. Mirza Kamran Baig (President- SIO Mumbai Division) gave a brief intro of the theme. He pointed out various evil deeds in Muslim students and youths and Muslim society.


Speaking on the topic “Aae Naujawan! Teri Manzil Kahan Aur Tu Gum Kahan”, Mr. Abdul Waheed (Ex-President SIO Mumbai), with help of some statistics, clarified the present scenario and position of Muslims in the society. On education, he said that only 17% of Muslims pass SSC whereas 2% get graduated and 1.3% goes for Post-graduation.

Addressing the youth gathering, Mr. Mujtaba Farooq Sahab (National President, Welfare Party of India-WPI) said it is our obligation to follow and implement teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in our daily routine life. Giving a review of prophet’s life in Makkah and Madina he highlighted that those were just handful of sahabas who come hand to hand and accepted Islam and again those few Sahabas fought to spread Islam. With this he made the point that being minority it is necessary for us to put double and triple efforts in order to succeed.

He also commented on how we Muslims are used and thrown in politics just for the sake of votes by our politicians. He asked the students to become expertise in Indian laws and bureaucracy so we can contribute to the society.
