“(A total of) 269 voters from north (Goa district) and 114 voters from south (Goa district) were deleted from the list because they had a Portuguese passport,” said Quraishi, along with two other election commissioners V.S. Sampath and H.S. Brahma were in Goa to review poll preparedness, in view of the state going to polls sometime next year.

During his earlier visit to Goa, Quraishi had ordered an enquiry into the contentious dual citizenship issue, after hundreds of Goans who have applied and were selected for Portuguese nationality, refused to give up their Indian passports.

He also said that there were more than 10 lakh voters registered in Goa, which has a population of about 14 lakh.
