“As many as 721 people have died in 2,123 road accidents from April 1 to Nov 30. Except one accident, human error was responsible for all other accidents,” Transport Minister Mohinder Singh said in a written reply in the state assembly.

During this period, 3,840 people were injured in accidents.

In the monsoon session of the assembly in August, the government had said 3,479 people had lost their lives in the state in the past three years.

To check accident rates, the government has banned the use of mobile phones and music systems by drivers.
