Beijing : A Shanghai-based luxury furniture retailer has been fined nearly 1.5 million yuan (around $212,000) in China, months after he was found to have duped customers about the origin of his products.
Shanghai’s industry and commerce bureau Friday issued a punishment notice to Da Vinci, Xinhua reported.
According to the notice, the company has been fined for selling substandard furniture and these pieces of furniture will all be seized.
The company claimed that its furniture was made in Italy, but the furniture had actually been manufactured in Chinese factories.
An investigation was launched after media reports in July accused Da Vinci of lying about place of production and selling inferior-quality products at high prices.
