“The minimum temperature recorded was 12.7 degrees Celsius, a good five degrees above the average. The reason for this rise in the temperature is a western disturbance over the capital. The partly cloudy skies have added to the rise in the mercury level,” an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

The maximum temperature is expected to touch 30 degrees Celsius.

Lakshmi Sharma, a homemaker who was out on a shopping spree with her friends early Sunday, said: “It’s very warm today so I have not bothered to wear a sweater. Moreover we are going to be shopping and will be mostly outside and it’s very sunny.”

“Feels like winter has come to an end,” said Suruchi Das, a student. “It’s nice weather to spend outdoors but am dreading the beginning of the hot season,” she added.
